Nathdwara is a small town in Rajasthan known for its thousands of years old, Shrinathiji Temple. The temple owes its fame to the Krishna idol it houses. The Idol is an incarnation of the infant Krishna  which was initially kept in Mathura but was later moved to Nathdwara to protect it from the intolerant ruler Aurangzeb. Infact, Nathdwara literally means ‘Gateway to Shrinathji’ .
